Anyone else get this kind of thing on their 404 page? Its like a bot is crawling through my site just trying to find the signup pages..
This is why people sign up and send no hits sometimes. they are autosigning then.. sending nothing.. leeching hits from thousands of sites this way.. which would turn into a fair whack of money sold to traffic brokers? Just a theory.. ? |

FiremanSixNine, do you have his (their) IP (IPs)? Just want to investigate related domains. |

I've been able to block a lot of scripted autosignups from cheaters by adding these IPs to both the banned webmaster IPs and banned server IPs blacklists in ATL3... works with ATL3, probably other scripts as well.
216.255.178.50
216.255.178.66
216.255.180.90
If you can't block by webmaster IP, try adjusting your trade script's active/passive mode to require a minimum number of hits in to activate the trade and start sending traffic back.

Yeah.. I took away the default send 10 hits to new trades. Which is a pity because it makes it alot easier to manage new signups..
either ct or ept does a redirect once reaching a maximum number of 404's too which helps.
I don't think my servers log ip's for 404's.. can only really tell when someone signs up and sends nothing.. Up until now I've always assumed this meant they expected hits first or theyve forgotten to send startups.. Now Ill have to be abit more suspicious. |

Apache logs 404 IPs as i know
Anyway, adjusting minimum hits level to activate a trade is the best thing in your case i think. |

Yeah the apache logs would show.. But I don't have enough time to micromanage the site like that.. I imagine if its a script that alot of people would have it and theres alot of ip's. And if I were a cheater I wouldnt be using a static ip anyway.
It would be nice to see someone list all the ways you could be cheated just so its all out there. It would be a long list I guess.. |

Probably you right. Besides it is not so complex to write a script for autosignup IMO. Simple fields filling and good trade database or forum leecher to collect this DB.
Or even robot that go thru the toplists and collect URLs for autosignups.
BTW, how many traffic you send each leecher before disable him?
