What would be a good thumbnail size for a teen niche TGP?
My site is:
http://www.citrusteens.com
and i would like some advice on what size to make my thumbnails.
90x120?
88x88 like bunnyteens.com ?
even larger?
the server i have is realy fast and has nice bandwidth so that is not a problem but i would like it to trade well with other highly productive sites as
well, let me know what you guys think, thanks. |

| On my 17'' display thumbs block looks very small (approx third in width). So , yeah... bigger thumbs size would be cool |

You should see his 88x88 thumbs/tables on a 22" monitor @ 1680x1050...
You might consider this - As of January 2007, 14% of internet users surf the net with 800x600 display resolution, 54% use 1024x768, and 26% use a higher resolution. Ref: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
Design for your market(s), both surfers and trade partners... That said, on a teen site the most popular thumb sizes lately seem to be 110x150, 160x120, and 180x240.

I use 1280x1024, so i 'm from 26%!
17'' became a standard. So all designs must be adapted for 17'' display with 1024x768 resolution. |

I have tried a number of sizes, and it seems for me 120x170 is working really good.
I am not sure about the square thumbs, I think you will end up losing the effect of all of your pics, and where if you choose a format you the will have at the potential for a great pic on 50% of your images you get.
My site with 176x240 is getting bookmarked alot, but it does not do really well productiivty unless people are coming from a smaller thumb site.
Finally, I used the templating system smart thumbs, which helps you autocrop, and I would hate to think of me doing 25000 pics like a few weekends ago by hand. However don't forget the imagemagik, which makes it easy to do it in batch at the command line level especially if you are using linux. |

thanks for the helpful responses you guys, yeah i've been using 1600x1200
for about four years on a 21" and have a laptop that is only like 15".
I about doubled the size of the thumbs to 160x160.
I am quickly realizing that squares are kinda weird to deal with since
the human body fits much better into a rectangle.
The productivity has gone up about 30%! which is realy nice. |

yeah, now thumbs looks much better. Good work!
Since you have a lot of face pics, square thumbs look not bad imo |
